BINGHAM LANDS ASIAN TITLE

BINGHAM LANDS ASIAN TITLE

STUART BINGHAM defeated Liang Wenbo 4-1 to win the fourth and final Asian Tour event of the season in Dongguan, China.

It was Bingham’s third title on the Asian Tour, the Basildon potter having won two last season.

Liang won the opening frame with a break of 81 but Bingham made two half century breaks, 58 and 52, in moving 2-1 ahead. He then contributed further runs of 78 and 68 to complete victory and secure the £10,000 first prize.

In the semi-finals, Bingham overturned a 2-0 deficit to beat China’s Cai Jianzhing 4-2.

Bingham, the world no.6, finishes third on the Asian Tour order of merit, with the top eight progressing to the Players Championship grand finals in Preston later this month. They are joined by the top 24 in the European Tour order of merit.
