SNOOKER AT GLOUCESTER

THE CLOSING date for the annual Pink Ribbon pro-am at the Capital Venue South West Snooker Academy in Gloucester has been extended to May 22.

The event, which attracts many well known professionals, raises money and awareness for breast cancer charities. It began in 2010, was won last year by Joe Perry and will be held from June 4 to 8. Full details are available here.

The Capital Venue will also stage the qualifiers for the Wuxi Classic and Australian Goldfields Open, which get underway next week. These will be the last World Snooker events to be held in Gloucester, with the venue changing to accommodate Paul Mount’s MIUS business, although the academy tables will remain.

“The Academy is committed to providing first class facilities, coaching and player development, whilst we will be endeavouring to run as many private snooker competitions for pros, amateurs and juniors in the future,” said Andrew Norman, SWSA operations officer.

Tickets for the qualifiers, likely to feature most of snooker’s best known players, are available here.
